-Website Directory Submission

You really need to do two when submitting a website to a directory:

1) Do some research on what keywords are being searched for. Then select the best keyword string for your site title. This is much better than writing out the exact domain name for your website submission. By using keywords in your url submisson, you increase your chances of showing up in the search engines.

2) Try and review all of the website directories that you think your site would qualify for. Write down the page rank of each website directory that you think you could submit your url to. Then submit your site to the website directory with the highest page rank.

Two other big directories that you should submit your url to:

DMOZ Directory Submission

If you get your website listed in this website directory, then you will get your site indexed high in Google.

Website Directory Submission Points:

Try and Become an Editor - If you can do this, then your url submissions will always get accepted.

Title with an A - By submitting your website with a title that starts with an A, you will be at the top of that website directory.

Try and find directories that have been updated within the past 30 days. Many of the website directory editors have abandoned their post so submitting your url will be in vain.

Yahoo Directory Submission

Although submitting your url to Yahoo is not what it used to be, it can still play a critical role in the SERPs.

Website Directory Submission Points:

Find Directories with Little Competiton - You need to focus on directories with less than 20 websites in them. By submitting your url to these pages you ensure that your site will be indexed.

Multiple Directory Listings - You can tailor inside pages of your website to submit to the directory. Find some directories with less than 10 pages listed, and then submit your url to those.
